A bristow helicopter from Lagos has crashed 70 miles into the sea. Information from Capt. Obina of BHN indicated that the aircraft has been located, the 11 souls are on board. Life raft and rescue boats headed in their direction.
Greennews.ng gathered that no life was lost in the crash, the pilot crash landed the aircraft.
Meanwhile, Bristow Helicopters (Nigeria) Limited, has released a statement confirming the crash
According to the statement, the company said one of its helicopters, was involved in a water landing near Lagos at about 10.25 a.m. local time on return from an offshore platform.
“The aircraft, a Sikorsky S-76C++, had departed on a routine crew transfer flight offshore with nine passengers and a crew of two.
“All persons onboard are accounted for and in the process of being transferred to a nearby installation.
The company said it is in the process of collecting pertinent information and will release more details as soon as it is available.
It will be recalled that on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, an American pilot and a Nigerian first officer were killed along with four passengers when a Bristow helicopter plunged into a lagoon in Lagos. The twin-engine Sikorsky 76C+ was heading from an offshore oil rig to the international airport when it plunged into the water in the north of Lagos.
